The wait was worth it! As it has everything I absolutely love and value in a retreat setting. Above all, is it’s panoramic situation- an organic vegetable and fruit small holding/garden on mountain terraces which gently meander down through Pine trees to the sea. It’s almost like having a private cove to swim from!
The views from the gardens are simply breathtaking across the turquoise expanse, with exquisite, panoramic sunsets every evening, enjoyed from the comfort of the dining table terrace!!
A few of the guests this year even labeled it “A Garden of Eden!” which says it all……..Suleyman’s family are such lovely, welcoming people, and their traditional Turkish cooking is just to die for! The ingredients come mainly from the gardens, so are as fresh as you could get and just bursting with delightful flavours and vitality. Even the yoga shala has vegetables and fruit trees sprouting up around it, creating such a wonderful, peaceful natural ambience to be with. This year there were even a couple of goats close by as well to add to the rural charm.
A lot of the participants re-booked immediately for the second year this year, and most have rebooked again for next year 2018 – such is Suleyman’s Garden’s powerful, simple charm.I haven’t even mentioned Ian (brother of Jane, who runs the management company in Wales) yet, who really had the vision to create another retreat centre here, where only fruit trees and vegetables stood! Apart from his rustic creativity, he is a fun, very entertaining host for the weeks, particularly as he grew up there so has a rich, cultural hands-on knowledge of the area for those who want to pick his brains!
What more to say? Mountains, Clear blue sea, boat trips to deserted beaches, delicious food, lovely people, reasonable flights to get there. And above all – very happy clients….. which makes my job as a teacher so much easier and joyful.
Thank you to Huzur Vadisi team for creating and marketing such a haven.”
‘I wanted to say thank you, as we had the most amazing week. I always knew taking retreats would be a magical experience, but nothing could prepare me for the beauty, the simplicity and the utter charm of Suleyman’s gardens or for the quiet kindness of Suleyman and his family and all the others who worked there. It is an extraordinary place – a true oasis that fully imbued the yoga practice with something special and set the tone for something really transformative, not least because life was pared back to what was essential, including food of unrivalled quality and taste. The food alone would be worth returning for.
I can honestly say that there wasn’t a bad moment, and my sentiments were reflected in each and every person who came with me. Many say they feel truly changed by the experience. Ian was wonderful host – fascinating to speak to, endlessly helpful in practical terms and kind in his thinking. Coupled with how organised you were in the build up – your several decade long experience really shows – it made the whole thing effortless. We would love to come again.’ Nicole Page Croft
‘Just as special as Huzur Vadisi but with a completely different energy, Suleyman’s Garden called to mind a mini Eden! Intimate, contained and abundant, fruit and vegetables of every description line the pathways that wind between the cosy huts, the kitchen and the shala. The views all the way along this quiet and dramatic part of the coastline are magnificent and it’s incredibly hard to find such an unspoiled stretch of coast and peaceful nourishing garden in which to unwind body mind and soul, anywhere in the Mediterranean. The food picked and prepared the same day from the garden and sea was natural varied and delicious. The highlight for me is Deniz’s fig jam. Please make a few jars for your guests to buy! Suleyman’s is a tiny little haven full of nature’s luxuries that made my heart smile.’ Katrina Triffit, Yoga Teacher
