Huzur Vadisi is in the region of southwest Turkey known as Lycia. Mountainous and forested with a beautiful coastline of deep bays and islands the scenery is quite stunning, with limestone cliffs and panoramic views of sometimes snowcapped mountains rising from the turquoise sea.
The history of the region spans the Greeks, Romans and Persians, and before them the ancient Lycians who are thought to have come from Minoan Crete. The region is littered with the romantic remains of Lycian cities, most of which remain unexcavated and where we are often the only visitors roaming among the temples, broken columns and amphitheatres.
The climate is typically Mediterranean with hot, sunny, dry summer months, and lovely spring and autumn weather with warm sunny days, cooler evenings - and the chance of an occasional shower. In our opinion May and September are the nicest months. We particularly recommend May when the spring flowers are dazzling. Even when it's hot we are cooled by breezes from the mountains and by shady olive and fig groves.
