Food
One of the great pleasures of a stay in Turkey is the wonderful food. Guests over the last nineteen years have so enjoyed the dishes served from the Huzur Vadisi kitchen that we finally gave in to popular demand and published a cookbook.
Turkish cooking is recognised as one of the great cuisines of the world – created by a thousand palace chefs devoted to tempting the Ottoman Sultan’s palate.

At Huzur Vadisi our gifted chef, Sevgi, combines this tradition with local village recipes to turn out truly original and delicious Huzur Vadisi food – referred to in Harpers & Queen magazine as ‘legendary’.
Not to be outdone, Suleyman and his wife Deniz at Suleyman’s Garden, not only produce delicious Turkish village meals, but also grow most of the organic produce themselves.
At The Pomegranate, Sigi and Metin combine the best of Turkish and Mediterranean cooking to provide an international twist on many traditional dishes. They also make many of their own preserves and provide fruit from their extensive garden.
Turkish village cooking is mainly vegetarian, as meat would traditionally be served only for special occasions, so there are many unusual and varied vegetarian dishes from the local repertoire. Based on fresh, local, seasonal produce – fruit, vegetables, pulses, grains, nuts, cheeses, eggs and yoghurt – the diet is a nutritionist’s dream.
The menus are vegetarian by default, but fish, chicken or meat can be provided once or twice in the week if requested by the group. We don’t provide it on an individual basis. Special diets can be accommodated, but please check with us first.
